From the Quds to the Furrara

From the Quds to the Furrara is a visual and narrative art book documenting the journey of return—from the Old City of Jerusalem to Beit Hanina, a Palestinian village divided by borders, walls, and checkpoints.

Created through the lens of a Palestinian American returning home, this book traces a familiar route taken by generations: first to Al-Quds, then onward to the village. What was once a ten-minute walk now becomes an hour-and-a-half journey around a border wall and through multiple checkpoints—an experience reflected in both the imagery and the physical structure of the book itself.

The journey concludes at the Furrara: the oak tree at the heart of the old village. A living witness to lineage, memory, and return. Climbed by the artist’s grandmother, later by her father, and now by the next generation—this book is an ode to inheritance, continuity, and the act of coming back.
